SnowSource app for iPhone and iPad

Over 2 billion people rely on snowmelt as main drinking water source. However, a lot of information about snow surrounding us is myth and conspiracy.

SnowSource is developed as an educational app to provide an evidence-based scientific channel to know about the water sources we are counting on everyday, allow field workers to trace the originated snow cover from anywhere in the U.S., allow water managers to check on the real time status of the snow cover of which they are stakeholders, and most importantly form a clear connection between everyone and a particular region of snow cover without research nor extra analysis.

SnowSource is designed to wake up people’s consciousness about the snow, and generally, climate change, by scientifically identifying everyones role as water consumers, and confirming their responsibility in protecting a particular region of snow and reacting to the changes in the region.

The datasets and services used in this app come from USGS, NOAA, and USDA.
